# Astra

> Astra is a commercial space company providing dedicated small satellite launch services and flight-proven electric propulsion systems. Founded in 2016 in Alameda, California, Astra's mission is to Improve Life on Earth from Space®.

Astra offers two core products: Launch Services via Rocket 4, targeting 600 kg payload capacity to low Earth orbit with weekly launch cadence, and the Astra Spacecraft Engine™, a flight-proven Hall-effect electric propulsion system for satellites. Astra became the fastest privately funded U.S. company to reach orbit in 2021. The company went private in July 2024 to accelerate development, with Rocket 4's first flight targeted for summer 2026.
